Recap - Boulder Ridge Invitational a Huge Success
We held a groundbreaking tournament at Boulder Ridge Golf Club on June 22. Thanks to our Co-President, Thomas Brooks, and his relationship with Boulder Ridge, we were able to reserve the entire golf course for the day. This allowed us to host a shotgun-start tournament with 88 players—our largest field in recent memory—followed by a gathering and delicious lunch in the beautiful clubhouse.
With exclusive access to the course, we were able to welcome far more members and guests than the typical 24–36 players we can accommodate at most private clubs. Based on the positive feedback from both our participants and Boulder Ridge staff, we are hopeful this will become an annual LJGA Team Invitational. Thank you, Thomas, for making this opportunity possible.
Your Board decided to make this a true championship-style event, featuring a fun team format, Net Skins Game, hole sponsors, an expanded prize fund, raffle prizes, and an outstanding post-round lunch. The course offered spectacular views, dramatic elevation changes, and certainly lived up to its "Boulder Ridge" name. The weather was beautiful, the course was in excellent condition, and the Boulder Ridge staff did an outstanding job throughout the day.
Treasurer and long-time Board member Peter Mankin served as Master of Ceremonies for the awards presentation, while Eric Ingraham and Mat Yamagata expertly managed the tournament scoring, contest results, and prize distribution. Their efforts behind the scenes ensured everything ran smoothly.
One of the highlights of the day was our inaugural raffle, which generated tremendous excitement. Participants had opportunities to win numerous prizes, culminating with a TaylorMade 3-Wood and a complimentary Boulder Ridge foursome.

In the team competition, Hutch Hseih, John Hong, Kara Okamoto, and Mark Punzalan delivered an extraordinary performance, winning with an incredible 32-under-par team total of 110. Kara, playing from the men's tees, posted an outstanding 77 gross and 60 net, and all four team members finished with net scores in the 60s—a remarkable achievement.
Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to Thomas's volunteer team—Charles, Carol Brooks, Wanda H, Sandra L, Wanda D —along with our Board members, sponsors, and the outstanding staff at Boulder Ridge Golf Club. Their hard work, enthusiasm, and dedication helped make this one of the most successful and enjoyable tournaments in recent LJGA history.
